The Museum
The move of Stuttgart’s art collection into the centrally located new museum building in March 2005 symbolizes the beginning of a new era. Four themes will be central to further developing the museum’s collection and exhibition profile: ornamentation (as seen in Adolf Hölzel’s oeuvre), social criticism and the political approach (for instance in Otto Dix), the subversive-ironic strategy (as present in Dieter Roth’s oeuvre), as well as the often gradual transition from »fine« to »applied« arts (as with artists such as Adolf Hölzel, Ida Kerkovius, Oskar Schlemmer or Willi Baumeister).
