Frischzelle_15: Stefanie Trojan
Every culture develops rituals, habits, and complex models of social behavior. Artist Stefanie Trojan (b. 1976 in Neu-Ulm) investigates such traditional norms in her performances as she carries out actions that consciously break the rules of interpersonal communication. In this way, she asks viewers to consider the familiar from a new perspective: “I don’t work with pictures, but with experience,” Stefanie Trojan explains about her performative approach. Here she allows the audience to play an essential role in the resulting performance, as it is audience members’ reactions to the irritating and provoking actions that complete the experiments she initiates.
