Frischzelle_21: Schirin Kretschmann
Schirin Kretschmann (b. 1980 in Karlsruhe) creates space-oriented, painterly installation pieces that question the experiencing of places and subject them to transformation. Her use of simple materials, such as ice cream or shoe polish, sets up a personal meditation on an intimate appropriation of the everyday world. At the same time Kretschmann explores the tradition of the spatialized picture, which she augments with elements of site specificity, temporality, and process. For “Frischzelle_21” she developed an artistic process with dubbin, exposing the elemental perception of time and place and posing questions about the relationship between architecture, the viewer, and artistic approach.
