Tino Sehgal
As the winner of the 2016 Hans Molfenter Prize of the State Capital of Stuttgart, the German-British artist Tino Sehgal (b. 1976 in London, UK) realized an exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart. Sehgal, who attended school in Böblingen and Sindelfingen, is internationally renowned for his novel definition of the concept of art and exhibitions. The artist doesn't create material works in the conventional sense; instead, with the help of actors, he generates situations that focus on the social interactions of the individual as well as the group and subtly enter into our awareness.
Sehgal's exhibition responded to the particular location of the museum in the heart of the city center. In different choreographies, the actors linked the public area in front of the museum, the semi-public foyer, and the museum space of the permanent collection rooms with one another and tested out diverse opportunities for interaction.
