Twenty Years of Frischzelle

The double anniversary of the art museum and its collection also marks the twentieth anniversary of the exhibition series Frischzelle. After initially alternating exhibition spaces, a fixed space was established in the permanent collection, a situation that presents young artists in the region with challenges year after year. Their works enter into a direct dialogue with the established positions on view, providing impulses and opening up a fresh perspective onto the museum collection. 

For the twentieth anniversary, a selection of pieces that became part of the museum’s collection after their presentation in the Frischzelle is now on display for the first time. Together with a parallel publication, the show offers an overview of all thirty-one Frischzelle exhibitions. The opening will feature an artist talk with Frischzelle artists from different generations.
